In the field of search engine and search engine optimisation one very common terminology that you might always encounter is the phrase search engine algorithm. The search engine algorithm is considered to be the foundation of the whole search engine, this is because it is the part of the search engine which is responsible for taking and processing a problem after which it would return a solution to such problem, evaluating all possible solutions and returning only the most accurate solution. In addition to this the search engine algorithm returns such results according to the calculated quality of the web page which would mean that it would display first the websites that are of high quality in terms of the structure of the website or web page. The search engine algorithm is divided into three sub categories and these are the following:
1. the On-site algorithm – this search engine algorithm is responsible for different ranking factors that may be found inside a webpage. Factors such as keywords utilised in the content, the quality of such content where it is always taken into consideration the fact that the content must be relevant to the web page and the keywords used are relevant to the web page’s entire content. This algorithm will also check on how the keywords are utilised across the content of the website and it will then check whether there were spam techniques done that would prove to be detrimental to the ranking of the website.
2. Whole-site algorithm – the whole-site algorithm is responsible for gathering data or checking the validity of the link of a web page to another in a website, which means that such algorithm checks on how relevant is the web page in relation to other web pages within the same website. It checks the content of the web page and relates it to the content of the other web pages if they are indeed relevant with each other.
3. Off-site algorithm – The off-site algorithm on the other hand is responsible for checking the outside quality of a website or how a website relates with other website. This relationship is checked via the presence or absence of quality and relevant back links, which means the quality of websites that are linking to your website in an inbound manner.
