Cloaking is a method that is used by un-ethical search engine optimisation companies, and is considered as a “Black Hat” SEO technique that will normally see a website getting penalised by the major search engines, including the main one, Google.

Cloaking is done by the SEO company showing one website that is fully optimised to the search engines, however when a user goes onto the site, they see another site, the site they they want to see that is relevant to what they are searching for.

This method may work for a short period of time, however the search engines are wise to the “cloaking” method, and when they do detect it, they will penalise the website, and maybe drop it out of the search engine listings permanently.

CPC is short for “Cost Per Click” and refers to the amount you will have to pay every time someone clicks though your link to your website when you advertise through their channel.

A good example of this is Google “adsense” scheme. every time someone clickes on your website through their scheme it costs you an amount of money for showing up highly in the search results. How much it costs you depends on the position you want to show up in (the higher the list the more expensive) as it is a bidding scheme, and the industry you choose, as “Loans” is more competative than “Dirty Rags”.

CSS is short for “Cascading Style Sheets”.

A Cascading Style Sheet is a form of internet software that is used to design a page or centent on a website but kept on an external sheet to ensure that the site is tidy, and organised.

Due to the fact that a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) is kept on an external file sees that the content to coding ratio is favourable to the content on the site. By doing this, the content shows as having more weight.

CSS is especially good for SEO purposes of any website.

A “CAPTCHA” can usually be found at the bottom of a form on a web page to prevent automoted software systems spamming submission forms with unwanted information. It ensures that the form must be filled out by a human at all times, due to the fact that the CAPTCHA can not be ready by automated robots, then again, I find it hard to ready as a human.

There are many types of CAPTCHA’s that can be found on the web:

  1. Numeric CATPTCHA’s
  2. Alphabetic CAPTCHA’s
  3. Questions & Answers
  4. Mixed CAPTCHA’s

With more and more people all over the world trying to spam different sites for different reasons it is almost essential that each an every form on the net has a CAPTCHA on it to prevent spamming.
