To identify or authenticate the email that clients would receive is the main goal of Google in their latest update for their email services through Google Apps. This time Google is set to fight e-mail spam by identifying whether or not a specific email sender is indeed the person sending such e-mail message. Although this idea could sound to be something doomed to fail , preventive measures were integrated by Google. Client tracking could be too much for a company to provide for free but Google through its Domain Keys Identified Mail or DKIM the indentification of the user can now be easily implemented.

The Domain Keys Identified Email is not a new technology within the arsenal of Google, this type of system has been utilised by the search engine giant when it integrates the paypal account with that of the source of the website, according to many SEO Consultants the Domain Keys Identified Email was already being utilised by Google in their Paypal – Ebay integration where in the goal of such is to check whether or not the email sender specially that which requires financial transaction. The Domain Keys Identified Emails is now expanded to meet the specifications of the changing world and that would include the changing or the integration of a technology that was previously being used only that such technology was redeveloped in order to accommodate the new purposes as well as the old ones. Google deemed it necessary to integrate such technology, the Domain Keys Identified Email, because of the increasing incidents of people being duped by others through sending emails that would defraud the user and the also increasing number of incidents of phishing where important username and password and even credit card information of the user is being stolen. It is because of these that Google made a move to make such application.

In order to create your favicon you first need the .ico extension for photoshop, visit this link www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/ to download a free extension and upload it to your C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\File Formats folder.

Now open up Photoshop and create or insert your image in, crop or resize the image to make it square. Tip: Ideally the image needs to be a simple icon, or an image with as few pixels as possible. Now you need to resize the image to 16px x 16px (standard favicon size), as shown below.

If your image is completely unreckognisable then you may need to consider redrawing the image with a 1px pencil tool or using a different image. If you need to have a transparent background then just ensure there is no background showing when you come to save it.

Now go to File > Save as and in the Format dropdown select ICO (Windows Icon)(*.ICO), save the image as favicon.ico and upload this to the root folder of your site.

To help the browser locate the favicon, insert the line of code below into the header tag of your homepage, rename /favicon.ico to the full URL of where it is located and your done.

In order to see your favicon you may need to delete your Temporary Internet Files on your browser and then close and reopen the site.

Evidence of strong tech competition among companies is evident not only during conventions where they showcase their new and upcoming products but also inside the court room. It can be recalled that Microsoft has won a bid to provide an email system for the Interior Department which of course would amount to millions of dollars worth of profit in favour of the Operating System giant. Google also participated in the bid through Onix Networking which is the formers’ licensed reseller for the Google Apps and that the search engine giant tried to convince the interior department to utilise the Google apps product instead of the products of companies who are bidding for such project. This project in contest is to provide an email system for the U.S. governments’ interior department where such email system will be provided to 88,000 of the departments’ employees. The bid having been awarded to Microsoft prompted the search engine giant Google to file a case to block the implementation and awarding of the project to Microsoft.

Judge Susan G. Braden favoured Google by granting a temporary court order to stop the Interior Department from pushing through with the awarding of the project to Microsoft on the grounds that there were deficiencies in the procurement process. Google’s contention on the case was that there was no full and open competition during the bidding process. It is because of this that Judge Braden handed the decision to grant a temporary order to stop the project from pushing through and according to the Judge the pleliminary injunction is to give Google the opportunity to compete and prevent an organisational lock-in between Microsoft and the Interior Department.

Google executives were pleased with the decision being the proponent for open competition in the internet. While for Microsoft executives contended that Google’s email solutions does not meet the standards set by the Interior department which is the reason why the project was awarded to Microsoft who met such minimum standard requirement.

Facebook is rapidly becoming the most popular website or social media network worldwide, this is evidenced by the fact that the social media network giant had gained more than five hundred million users last year and the population is still growing. Further, the social media network was regarded as the most visited website of 2010 with 8.9% internet users share according to Hitwise, an online survey service company. These exponential growth of Facebook even became a spark or catalyst to topple Google from the top spot in terms of annual users share. It is because of this growth of Facebook both in business as well as in popularity that investors have started or have planned on buying stocks from the social media network giant even before such stock become public.
Goldman Sachs made a gambit by becoming the first to purchase Facebook Tech Stocks before such stock would go public. Goldman Sachs invested four hundred fifty million dollars which thus gave the social media network giant a theoretical value of fifty billion dollars. This investment by Goldman Sachs on a Tech Stock have increased the fear of some investors that there might be a repeat of the bubble burst which happened during the 1990’s which was initiated by the merger deal between Time Warner and America Online which caused the long drought for technology stocks, which was eventually broken by Apple.
Apart from Facebook other tech companies are also generating interests before their tech stocks goes public, one of them is Zynga who is reportedly pouring investments coming from Mail.ru which is formerly known as Digital Sky Technologies. Another company that is reportedly privately raising money is Groupon which is believed to be performing such private fund raising after having turned down the $6 Billion acquisition by Google. Twitter is also another player in the private investment game by investing its shares with new tech companies through the secondary market. With these several private investments going on the question remain will the Bubble burst once again?

By default, elements in HTML are aligned left, but nearly all websites these days align centrally on the page. To do this effectively you need to make the width of the body tag 100%, make the text align center and add a margin of 0 auto (otherwise there will automatically be margins added), as below:

body {
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
}

Now create a wrapper div that the whole site will sit in. The max width for sites these days is 980px, so make a width of 980px, make the margin 0 auto again and align the text left now so that text within the wrapper will align left but still be contained within the centrally aligned div, see below:

#wrapper {
width: 980px;
margin: 0 auto;
text-align: left;
}

Finally, here is how your HTML should now look:

<div id=”wrapper”>

     Site content goes here

</div>

Until all browsers can support the CS3 background-size property, there is a need to create a layer which appears as a background image.

First, make sure that all browsers have a 100% height, 0 margin, and 0 padding on the html and body tags:

<style type=”text/css”>
html, body {
height: 100%;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
</style>

Add the image you want as the background as the first element of the web page, and give it the id of bg:

<body>
<img src=”images/background.jpg” alt=”background image” id=”bg” />
<!—- all other content goes below here à

Position the background image so that it’s fixed at the top left and is 100% wide and 100% in height:

img#bg {
position:fixed;
top:0;
left:0;
width:100%;
height:100%;
}

Add all your content to the page inside of a <div> called “content”. So what we have now is:

<body>

<img src=”images/background.jpg” alt=”background image” id=”bg” />
<!—- all other content goes below here à

<div id=”content”>

Web content here

<!—end content à

</div>

</body>

However, the page will now display the background image and then the content. We need to float the content over the image.

Position your content so that it’s relative and has a z-index of 1. This will bring it above the background image in standards-compliant browsers. Add this to your style sheet:

#content {
position:relative;
z-index:1;
}

In order for IE6 to display the page, add the following to the end of your style sheet:

<!–[if IE 6]>
<style>
html { overflow-y: hidden; }
body { overflow-y: auto; }
img#bg { position:absolute; z-index:-1; }
#content { position:static; }
</style>
<![endif]–>

This will give a background image to your site which will stretch to the size of your window

For so many years Google has been regarded as an internet giant particularly because of the fact that the company holds the top spot in terms of the search engine that is most visited and a website that is widely known and used by many. Google has indeed become a household name due to its popularity and consistent foothold on the number one position as determined by website survey companies. Google remains in number one position until the social media network Facebook came along. Facebook, although in a different league as compared with Google the latter being a search engine company and the former a social media company, was able to grow exponentially starting off with its unprecedented more than five hundred million users. Now, the social media network was able to find the right formula to topple Google from its top position by using the power of social media.

According to Experian Hitwise, a company offering online measurement service, Facebook is the top visited website for the first time from January to November 2010 where the social media network was able to gain 8.9% of U.S. visits. Google on the other hand ranked second garnering 7.2% for its search engine site alone. According to Experian hitwise the success of Facebook may be attributed by the fact that the social media network has revolutionized on how people get their news, how they interact with each other and on how people communicate and connect with their friends as well as relatives. Facebook has redefined the word friend by incorporating a way of delivering the latest news and allowing people to voice out their comments on the said news or trending topic. This is a big jump for Facebook considering the fact that the social media network jumped from number 3 last year to the number one spot this year.

Experian hitwise however pointed out that the result is based on Facebook and Google’s main site and that if Google’s YouTube and Gmail will be taken into account it will result to 9.9% of users share which is more than that of Facebook’s 8.9%.
