With the development of the internet there are several features that are now made possible for internet users to utilise. One of these features is the ability to view videos over the internet, this can be attributed to the fact that internet speed is being developed everyday and soon loading time will not be a factor to consider when viewing certain web pages or even certain videos online. To SEO companies and SEO consultants this is viewed as an opportunity to market their target website by gaining traffic from the online video providers such as YouTube. Since gaining popularity YouTube and other Video provider sites have gathered millions of video uploads that it would be requiring its own search property. This would mean that videos are now also being indexed and ranked according to the video search engine algorithm set by the video provider. It is because of its connection with Google, YouTube can be considered to have a solid video search algorithm and thus these standards and criteria set by YouTube may also be applicable in other video search engines.
First of the several criteria set is the use of title, for videos title is very important because this is an avenue to determine the keywords for the video search engine, meaning it is in the title where the search engine algorithm would base the keyword that it will index.
Second is the presence of a video description, just like for a website the video description is likened to the content where it can become an avenue for you to develop or rather insert your keywords for crawling purposes.
Third the total number of views of your video would matter, video search engine would give much weight on the number of people that have viewed your video because it would mean that your video is reliable and of course popular among the internet users.
Google, the leader in the field of search engines have taken a lot of blows from the China particularly its Government and People. It is to be recalled that Google was constantly being censored by the Chinese government and that several of the Google China’s search results were not displayed especially those website wherein its contents are against the Chinese government. As if this constant battle was not enough Google China suffered in a Hacking incident which compromised the Gmail accounts of different Chinese activists, this event prompted an investigation and computer security systems companies have traced the hackers’ or the hacker’s code origin in China.
It is because of this that the United States Government has entered the fray and has called on China in order to conduct a transparent investigation regarding the Hacking of Google and other US-based Internet Companies. In addition, the US government has called on the Chinese government to recognise the basic human right of freedom of expression and stop the repressing the different search results coming from Google China. Google in its fight against internet censorship have threatened to pull-out its business from China but after much consideration the search engine company decided to tone down and retracted their withdrawal from China. The main consideration for their withdrawal of the pull-out is because of the fact that they are going to put at stake or lose one of the world’s largest internet users’ market where it is estimated to be about three hundred eighty four million users. Google have accounted for around 33.2% of China’s internet users search engine market against the 66.1% from their rival home-grown Baidu.
The Chinese government, in their response to the problems that Google have encountered have started a crackdown on different Chinese hacking tutorial sites as their way of honoring business relations with the search engine giant Google.
In the recent research done by SEOMoz it has been predicted that the year 2010 the use of content in the field of SEO would be given much weight by search engines. We are just starting 2010 and yet content remains to be king in the field of search engine optimisation. This is the reason why every SEO company and SEO consultants must always advise clients that the use of contents is important. Contents allows the search engine to crawl through the website and gather more data for processing for purposes of indexing the website or even ranking the website. It has been noticed that having your website contents be refreshed in a daily or weekly manner would contribute to the search engine results page ranking of the target website.
Writing the content however, must pass several criteria in order to be rendered as a valid content and not a spam content. The following are the different criteria that may contribute to the increase in the SERP of your website.
1. Web Contents must be unique – time and again search engines have been emphasising on the importance of posting only unique contents. This is because search engines would like to regulate or prevent the proliferation of copied contents. Thus when a search engine detects that your content is just copied then it would tag your website as a spam website.
2. Contents must be relevant – this is simple to understand, write contents that are only related to the main theme of your website or at least the webpage. Do not write anything about SEO if your website is about selling electronic gadgets instead write something about what you are selling. Relevance in content is not only for search engine bots but also for users viewing your website, if they saw that your content is not related to what they are searching for then they would immediately bounce-out of your website.
3. Use of keywords – keywords are powerful tools in the field of SEO and the content is an avenue for the SEO companies and SEO consultants to incorporate the keywords for the search engine bots to crawl thus when using keywords it must be within the desired limit and not more because of the fact that too much use of keywords is considered as a spamming technique that would cause your website to be banned or suspended.
Google, being the foremost search engine in terms of users share have been the favorite target of competitors. We have first seen the merging of Yahoo and Microsoft in what is termed to be a team up that would finally topple the search engine giant. This however remains to be seen as Google still holds the highest user share according to comscore. This thus means that there is still a lot of work to be done before Google is going to fall or if it will fall. Microsoft in another move have teamed up with the number one social networking site Facebook with the same purpose of beating the search engine giant for the number one spot in the users share.
Though Microsoft and Facebook already have an existing deal the scope of the deal was widened in order to allow Microsoft and Facebook more access with each other which could help improve the rankings of Microsoft in terms of users share and vice versa. This deal would allow Microsoft through Bing to power the web search of Facebook, thus driving some traffic from Facebook to Bing, this deal may already be existing but this time the scope is that Bing will also power web searches of Facebook outside the United States, thus gaining more international presence. It is in the new and wider deal that Facebook will have access to the different features that Microsoft can provide such as features of Bing like rich answers and web tools that will help users or customers to effect faster and smarter decisions.
Facebook on the other hand have decided to take total control over selling their display ads, this means that the social media network is going independent in terms of competing in the display ad market such as Google, Yahoo and even Microsoft.
The effect of this wider scope of agreement between Facebook and Microsoft remains to be seen, the exciting part is what will Google will come up with in order to battle both Facebook and Microsoft.

In the field of website design it is basic knowledge that when you build a website the file size must always be taken into consideration. This is because of the fact that some hosting services may not be able to accommodate the file size of a website due to the limitations imposed by the web host. However, file sizes goes unchecked when the web host allows unlimited file size to be stored and to be hosted by the hosting company. Although page file size is most often than not being disregarded as a criteria in the development of the website since the file size is directly proportional with the loading speed, which means that the bigger the file size the longer the page would load.
Large file sizes are often attributed to the fact that some images that were used in the website design are images that are not web compatible or have an innately large file size. During the previous years however many website designers are still committing the same mistake of putting non-web standard images in their website causing a slow loading of such web page or website.
Now, website designers and website owners must not ignore the rules in using web images for application because of the fact that the amount of time it takes for a web page to load may now be considered as an indexing and ranking factor.
This means that SEO companies and SEO consultants are now or must start developing ways on how to improve the website ranking or the website index. Page loading or the amount of time for a web page to be fully loaded is being considered or was hinted by several search engine company executives about anything new about the person.
Originally designed as a social media network for tracking friends from college and connecting them through the web even if users are physically very far apart from each other, Facebook has indeed come a long way. Today, Facebook is considered to be then number one social media site and that its user base continues to grow everyday. Many users are hooked into the Facebook phenomena because of the fact that the website does not only offer simple exchange of message but also the opportunity to develop virtual communities not only through messaging or chat but also through the different games that were integrated within the social network site. Thus, from its origin of a simple social networking site it has evolved into society’s newest culture. Facebook has become so much of a phenomenon that many people have found new uses for the social networking site. Aside from building virtual communities the social media network can also be an avenue to market your product or services to the virtual community that you belong to. Now another use have been found for Facebook and this is to be an instrument of search engine optimisation and also as a news aggregator. This have been inferred due to the fact that Facebook have several features that may be able to compete with the existing news aggregator Google.
One such feature of Facebook that makes it a good device for becoming a good news aggregator is that new types of analytics are offered to its users or publishers, an example of this is the page owner feedback statistics which is designed to gather the thoughts of visitors to your site on whether they like the site or not.
Another feature of Facebook is that since its nature is to encourage users to build a community the field of news may be more compelling, meaning communities built would be more interested in the news than mere searchers as it gives the users an ability to interact online.
With these initial features it is being predicted that Facebook may indeed become a news aggregator and may even be able to top the current leader, Google.
The popularity of Google and the search engine giants’ number one ranking in terms of internet users’ share among the big three search engine is one of the main reasons why forging a deal with Google is always being considered by a lot of companies. The number of Google users is a testament that the search engine giant can bring a large number of traffic into a website, this is the primary reason why many SEO companies and SEO consultants have been developing SEO campaigns and strategies that would favor the website to be indexed and ranked in Google.
For established companies this would also mean the same, having a tie up with the search engine giant, Google, would help increase traffic to the target website. This is the primary consideration that AOL’s CEO Tim Armstrong during the AOL earnings call. The AOL CEO’s exact words were “distribution is almost as important to us as money, we will look for distribution as much as money in the deal”.
This means that because of the nature of AOL being a content company they would require a lot of traffic that could emanate from referrals. These referrals may be provided by Google while its strong competitor Microsoft can still not provide because of the fact that it has lesser number of internet users of around eight percent from Googles’ sixty percent of internet users’ share.
The AOL CEO also responded to the possibility that Microsoft may be throwing in some extra amount in the deal in order to entice AOL into forging a deal with them, his reply was that AOL and Google have a strong relationship in terms of their partnership and that although money would come into play still the ability to provide huge distributions would be equally important and thus this is the type of deal that AOL would like to enter into and have a long-term partnership with. It seems that from the hints given by AOL it is almost as if Google is being described to be that partner.
PPC or pay-per-click is the investment arm of SEO, this is considered as an investment arm because of the fact that undergoing PPC means that you have to shell out some money in order to make your PPC campaign to work. Although Pay-per-click is not in direct relation with search engine optimisation, both are dealing with keywords and in both PPC and SEO campaign the same keyword may be utilised. Website owners or SEO’s who have engaged in the use of PPC as a way of bringing traffic to the website should always consider the fact that technology is constantly changing that also goes true with the algorithms during live search, what may be effective yesterday may not be effective anymore tomorrow.
Why are keywords very important in the field of PPC? This is because of the fact that through keywords you would be given the opportunity to purchase it and have your website be posted across other related websites. Since you will be purchasing, in other instances you would be bidding for a specific keyword. Should you be just paying for the keyword make sure that you would choose keywords that are highly relevant to your website, an example maybe is that your website is about balloons then it would be prudent on your part to bid or purchase the keyword balloon, do not purchase a person or a company name if such name do not in any way pertain to the main theme of your website or in short the keyword or keywords are not relevant to the main theme or content of your website.
Finally, you should not stick to only one keyword in your PPC Campaign it would be prudent on your part to research several other variants of your keyword this is because of the fact that users may search using different variants or variation of your main keyword.
