So when you thought you have done all SEO strategies, another new or creative strategy pops out of the creative minds of SEO companies and SEO consultants. One such creative SEO strategy is the Traffic Exchange; traffic exchange works similarly with link exchange only the object here is the target websites. Members from a website will be able to view contents of another website and consequently the latter’s members will also be able to view the former’s website. This search engine optimisation strategy involves mainly online marketers having a common goal and that is to gain the much needed traffic, in addition to this business information are sometimes shared within this mode of communication.
Traffic exchange however requires members to register for a minimal fee, a small price to pay in exchange for that precious traffic that has the potential for conversion. To create an effective traffic exchange you must observe several time tested processes which can help you achieve your traffic exchange and your SEO goals. First thing to consider is to make landing pages where your site visitors will initially view. This is essential because of the fact that internet surfers does not stay long on a certain webpage therefore you need to have a web page that will showcase your entire business both products and services concisely and informatively. It is obvious therefore that the effectiveness of your traffic exchange operation depends on that single landing page. Second, therefore is to focus on how you construct your landing page, for starters you have to give your landing page an eye-catching heading or catch phrase, think of a phrase that will spark the interest of those transient internet surfer to convince them to move on to your website. Another thing that you can do with your landing page is to limit the number of images to be incorporated with the web page because of practical reasons like loading speed, the loading speed of the web page will be slowed down by too much graphics or images incorporated in the web design thus limit only your images to what is important.
Third guideline is to provide an avenue for back links, link building will greatly increase the efficiency of your SEO campaign, the fact that linking to landing pages or websites and vice versa is already considered to be a back link to your website makes traffic exchange strategy a two-prong SEO technique.

Most of the time Search Engine Optimisation can yield results after a considerable amount of time, it requires patience and funding in order for you to generate the traffic and most of all the conversion that you need. The ultimate goal of SEO anyway is to increase your sales or conversion by not only becoming visible over the internet but most of all becoming prominent, that is to make your company a household, or in this case, and internet name. Unfortunately, for some business persons they do not have the proper finances to support an SEO campaign that would take a very long time before results, which is income, starts to funnel down your account. It is because of this problem that SEO consultants is constantly finding ways to augment their SEO campaign financially without having to apply for a day job.
Fortunately, the internet is a vast source of income, you just have to know where to look. One way of augmenting your SEO campaign is through affiliate or network companies that are predominant in the internet. You just need your website and your products and services offered and an affiliate in order for you to earn while your link building campaign is still in the works. How does affiliation work exactly? Well for example you are running a website that includes reviews on the different products like a review on one brand of LCD once your reader or visitor have read the review and decides to purchase the product he or she would have to click on the link that you have provided wherein this link goes to a website that actually sells the product; after the product has been sold you will have a “cut” or a lead in exchange for the referral that you made. Does it mean that you should make a deal with every website that sells the products which are the subject of your review? Well that maybe possible but an easier way is to acquire the services of affiliate networks which for a minimal price you would be able to have access to the different websites according to your business interest. Indeed, in this time of crisis creative ways on how to augment your search engine optimisation campaign and even your financial needs is being favored and basically is inevitable.
Technology companies are the likely target of the anti-trust policy that is being implemented for several years already. Who could forget the case of Microsoft where they were accused of monopolising the operating system industry? Although, it turned out to be Microsoft who is winning the legal battle it resulted in some repercussions against the Operating system giant, for one it received bad publicity and also having to battle through waves and waves of lawsuits. During the Bush administration the law on anti-trust was not the priority of the U.S. government but that was the time when the European Union became very aggressive in their campaign in implementing the anti-trust law. Just recently the micro chip giant Intel was fined by the European Union for implementing a policy that rewards or award rebates to retail stores and computer makers if they purchase a considerable number or most of their chips from Intel instead of its competitor AMD or Advanced Micro Devices. Although intel announced that they will still have to appeal the case, paying a penalty of $1.45 Billion would hurt the already wounded micro chip giant.
Just recently, the Obama administrations’ negative attitude towards the Bush policies has yet again been manifested by strictly enforcing the anti-trust law, which the bush administration has frequently been ignoring. This time the strict enforcement of this policy has already placed Google in the crosshair of the new head of the anti-trust enforcement, Christine Varney. Google is the likely target because of its dominance over the internet economy, but even before President Obama’s policy on stricter anti-trust enforcement Google was already under fire when it decided a partnership with Yahoo! the second leading search engine world wide, the plan was later abandoned because of possible anti-trust law violation that were seen by the U.S. justice department.
Whatever the outcome is in this developing drama between governments and technology companies, one thing is for sure, if a Technology company transacts legally and according to law the declaration of a no anti-trust violation coming from the enforcers of the law would just be moot and academic.

Aside from Google analytics the web offers more web analytics tools that can help you in your Search Engine Optimisation campaign. Web analytics are program tools that helps an SEO company or an SEO consultant to track the progress of his or her website via tracking the website visitors. It tracks the number of visitor of your website and also their behavior, an advantageous tool that when utilised properly would yield a good visitor and conversion rate. The field of web analytics is vast as there are several free and paid web analytics being offered over the internet but if you take all these you will find that they can also be classified into three major categories namely the Server-side analytic, Client-side or Desktop Application side analytics and the Host provided analytics.
The Server-side analytics is a type of web analytics that are applications that are installed directly into the websites’ server, the different tools are preinstalled by the hosting company to it’s server. The benefits of using this type of web analytics is first the user is give an access to the analytics anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer and an internet connection of course. Second is the fact that being preinstalled then it is also free. This type of analytics also provide for fast access and reliability of data being gathered. Above all the server side analytics always have a privacy policy that will deter your competitors from taking a peek at your web analytics data result and know how your website is doing.
The Client-side analytics is on the other hand an analytic tool that is to be installed by the user onto his or her computer. This also allows users to access the analytics tool offline. Being a desktop program, the execution of the different commands will be faster and results will be delivered instantly however this strength would also prove to be the client side analytics’ downfall which could affect your SEO campaign. Due to the fact that it is client side the data gathered are also stored in your computer once the data is deleted or removed due to computer errors your SEO campaign may also be lost because the data contained within is very important and useful in your SEO operations.
Hosting Provided analytics or Host solutions provides analytics using the server but unlike the server side web analytic data or program is specifically stored in an ASP server. One advantage of using this type of web analytic is that the web analytic provider will do all the work that you usually do in a server side and client side web analytic process. In addition, having a server side characteristic also makes the host solutions analytics accessible anytime anywhere, only that it requires you to log on to the ASP server before you can start viewing the data gathered by this type of web analytics.
Whatever your choice will be among the three you must always take into consideration your funding for the strategy and the relevance of the web analytics to your SEO campaign.
One of the most important visitor of a website as viewed by SEO companies and SEO consultants are the search engine spiders or robots. These are not actual robots or spiders but are sets of algorithms that gathers data about a website for the search engine to process. The processed data will then allow search engines to decide whether the website or the web page meets the criteria for such to be included in the search engines’ database or index. Google is a search engine company that takes most of the pie in terms of internet users which makes it the number one search engine in the world. It is therefore prudent for an SEO company or SEO consultant to having their target website to be indexed in Google as their primary goal.
To be indexed in Google it is but right to know the search engines’ agents and those are the spiders. Google has two types of search engine agents one is the Googlebot and the other is the Freshbot. These two search engine agents are used by Google in order to crawl websites and to give the search engine enough data for the latter to index or rank the said website, making such search engine agents as the point of interest of SEO companies and SEO consultants.
The First type of Google Search engine agent is the Googlebot, this search engine robot is responsible for Googles’ process of deep crawl. Googles’ purpose of implementing deep crawl using the Googlebot is to keep it’s main index refreshed and updated, this procedure is usually done at the end of each month and will continuously be performed and completed in a matter of one week. This process can cause your website to have a fluctuating rank you may be at the top or will fall below your usual rank and back again until the process is completed and you will be placed at your proper ranking.
The second type of Google Search engine agent is the Freshbot, this search engine spider is duty-bound to perform the process called Fresh crawl. Fresh crawl is a process that aims to gather data about newly incorporated web pages in a website or newly updated content in the web pages. Freshbots perform their duties several times a week and the data they gathered after processing by the search engine will not be directly indexed rather it will have remain in a temporary index and then ranked while waiting for the main index crawler known as Googlebot to index the target web page.
Link building is a Search engine optimisation strategy that is considered one of the most effective way of getting your website to be indexed or ranked. Throughout the existence of SEO, link building is always the strategy that SEO companies and SEO consultants rely on whenever situations in their SEO campaign had turned from tolerable to desperate. Couple the complexity of link building with the fact that search engine algorithms changes and are not constant then you have a real daunting SEO task at your hand. The fact that search engine algorithm often changes so should the different strategies being implemented by search engine optimisation consultants. This also means that the link building strategy should also change to conform to the changes in the search engine algorithm. As of the latest the observations regarding the link building procedure are the following:
1. Your website must be linked to a relevant page only – search engine algorithm has a way nowadays for figure out whether the page you are linked to is relevant to your content. This is because of the fact that such content can be a reason for being ranked or indexed but precaution must be made to assure that the link back is not just some link from a random website. You cannot link to a flower shop website if your website is about computer services and repairs.
2. Think like a user and build trust between your visitors and you – make sure that your website is fully functional and error-free, this is the only way where you can build your trust relationships with your visitors. And if trust is built clients and visitors will frequent your website more which will increase the conversion rate of your website and hopefully the putting up of a user-friendly website will also increase your ranking.
3. Page Rank and Alexa Rank are now not too reliable – many years back Googles’ page rank and the alexa rank was the most common tool for search engine optimisation. Unfortunately today being popular in the different rankings like page rank and alexa rank will play a small role in your SEO campaign. This is proven by the fact that websites with very low page rank or rural page rank can still get indexed and ranked higher than those website with a higher page rank or alexa ranking.
These are factors that may affect your websites’ SEO campaign.
The process of website design is a very tedious one, it requires ever ounce of your energy in order for you to create a somewhat perfect website or web pages. The daunting tasks that are incorporated with the field of website design are brought about the fact that each and every website designer is not the user. This means that website designers create websites not for their own use but for others. The rule “You are not the user” prompts website designers to always take into consideration the users’ well-being while navigating through the created websites. The users should always be taken into consideration when creating websites as they are the ones who will be frequenting, navigating and scrutinising the website that you constructed. It is therefore important to know some basic rules on how to build a user-friendly website design.
1. Consistency is the key – a consistent overall design allows the users to have the same feel that they got from the home page which is distributed among the different pages in the website. You have to be consistent on the website design in every page so as not to alienate or confuse anyone even if users are taken to a new web page within the website.
2. Be watchful of errors – committing errors is already part of life and part of website design. Due to the changing specifications on the web or maybe due to carelessness a website design may incur errors and would eventually stop the website design to serve it’s intended purpose. That is why website designers must keep a watchful eye and a lookout for errors that may arise during the first month of the websites existence onto the web.
3. Test your website compatibility with web browsers – the manner on how a web page is displayed onto the web browser depends on two factors, the code used and the type of web browser being used to view the web page. The first factor is easily remedied by following the simple standards on the different scripting languages used to create or construct a website. The second factor relies heavily on the user testing the constructed website onto different web browsers. If the website is displayed correctly on at least three major web browsers such as firefox, IE and opera, it your website is displayed properly on the three web browsers then the other browsers will also have the same effect.

Most website design endeavors that are undertaken by website designers are focused on e-commerce or personal websites. Seldom do we see website designers who engage in charity work by making non-profit websites. Considered a charity work because who would charge a non-profit organisation? For one, non-profit organisations, only rely on donations or sponsorship funding from generous donors or companies. The internet is a good source of profit as well as for donations, that is why this resource is being tapped nowadays by people or organisations that do not have any source of funding or those who wants to extend their source of funding. Unfortunately, only few website designers are engaged into helping these type of organisations basically due to the fact that there is less or no money involved. But should you decide to engage in helping out organisations that needs internet presence to help them augment their funding then here are some guidelines that will make your organisations’ campaign of acquiring more funding or sponsors over the internet:
1. Write good content – Content is king, as known in the field of Search engine optimisation, this is also true when trying to convince people to donate to a non-profit organisation over the internet. But this time you have to create your content not only in a manner where you will be using your keywords effectively, rather, what is more important is the “heart” of your content. This means that your content must be convincing enough that your campaign is legitimate and that funding received will really go to the cause of the organisation. That is why adding an update page or a media center would further make your website convincing, as you can always show through the media center the organisations’ activities and how the funding received are being spent.
2. Include a sign-up page – the sign up page is for those people who does not have a lot of money but do have a lot of time in their hands and are willing to work for the organisations’ cause in another way aside from donating. This is a good chance for the organisation to take their campaign global and you can make it possible by incorporating the sign-up form or web page in your website design.
3. Include a donate button – Sometimes normal bank transactions takes a while and it is very tedious for your donor to be writing a check or going to the bank to transfer money to your account. In order to facilitate donation you can include in your website design a donate button which can be linked to the different internet banks such as paypal. This will not only facilitate the donation but also make your website design very usable for the non-profit organisation that you are helping.
To incorporate these guidelines along with the basics of website design would increase your chances in helping your target non-profit organisation. Although there is no money or just a little money involved in these kinds of projects the reward for doing their website design is the altruistic feeling that you have contributed to the greater good of the community or the society for that matter.
The new search engine tool dubbed as Wolfram Alpha was launched Friday, although reported to have been experiencing some minor technical glitches the launched was successful. The real story however, is the computational knowledge of the search engine as being boasted all over the internet. Can Wolfram Alpha really deliver what it promised to do? Well there is only one thing we can do in order to find out, test the Wolfram Alpha search engine.
During the site launch, I visited the website and I was greeted with different misplaced or misaligned text aside from the fact that I encountered a slow web page loading situation. When I finally got to the site, I immediately tried the search engine and inputted some queries like “many pacquiao vs. Oscar dela hoya” just like the way I would have done in Google, after taking some computing time I got the result “Wolfram|Alpha isn’t sure what to do with your input” , well I thought it is not the result I was hoping. Anyway I moved onto asking a more technical question like how far is Bangor from Leicester? For this query I got distances and flight time which is a very impressive result from a search engine which is unlike for conventional search engine which would just give me a list of links of the different related websites. The last test that I used is to locate where Essex County in England is so I entered “Where is Essex County in England?” again Wolfram Alpha gave me the result “Wolfram|Alpha isn’t sure what to do with your input”, I tried rephrasing the question and even going as far as just entering “Essex County” I got the result about the information on Essex County in New Jersey but not in England. This is also true to other selected locations like Markham Ontario.
I guess Wolfram Alpha still needs some work, but if they will have a complete database of all the information, the computational knowledge engine will be a very powerful tool in the internet which may even give the search engine’s Big 3 a run for its money.
Although very good for general knowledge, type in “cheap loans” or “SEO” and Google is still the leader of the pack in my eyes.
Have you noticed the slow loading of Google page lately? Or even the unavailability of the Search engine giants’ web page? Well this unusual phenomenon occurred the other day because of Googles own fault as admitted by their spokesperson Mr. Hoelzle. Many Google users observed the sluggish and downright slow page loading of Google which is when executed in normal conditions it loads at a fraction of a second, but when the so called Google glitch occurred page loading of the Google page and search results among others requires your patience because of this slow page loading and sometimes you will be getting an error message and the Google page will not be loaded.
According to the Google spokesperson Mr. Hoelzle, the slow performance for Google was caused by a glitch or an error in their system. This error caused Google to transfer some of their traffic to Asia. This transfer of traffic has affected around 14% of their patrons or users, either experiencing the sluggish performance of the search engine website or the displaying of an error message due to the non-displaying of the website on the web browser.
Google was humble enough to admit that such error was from their own fault. This event in the search engine game has started people to think about the integrity of a search engine most particularly that of Googles’. This is due to the fact that the Google Apps and email were also affected by Googles’ glitch causing some businesses online not to be able to efficiently function. This is what brought Google through its spokesperson Mr. Hoelzle to apoligise for what happened and with the further promise that Google is continuously finding ways to improve their services.
