In your SEO campaign finding the right set of keywords is imperative. Keywords play a vital part in your SEO campaign and should thus be given your focus when starting your Search Engine Optimisation campaign. The problem at hand now is where do we start? Where should we get our idea for the keywords? Keywords should not only come from random sources, deciding on the use of keywords and key phrases entail a lot of research and said research should come from an array of reliable sources. The places were you could start your research for your keywords or key phrases are the following:

1.    Your own website – although keywords depend on contents it would be prudent for you to look at your website and analyse the possible keywords or key phrases that were already incorporated in your website and those contents that can be potentially integrated in your website.

2.    Magasines or E-zines – there are a lot of websites catering to electronic magazines that caters to every aspect life, from apples to zoology, name it there is an article or e-zines dedicated to it. These e-zines are also a good source for keywords especially so that they also utilise keywords or key phrases. Find an e-zine that tackles your websites’ content and you will find a good keyword or key phrase source that can aide your SEO campaign.

3.    Get inside the head of your customers – One of your SEO campaigns’ focus are your customers. They are the actual targets in your SEO campaign, thus it would be best for you to start a little survey for you to know the common keywords or key phrase that your customers might enter when they are searching for a product or a service that your company is offering. The knowledge gained from this survey although somewhat tedious, will give you a clear view on what kinds of keywords or key phrases your SEO campaign should focus on.

4.    Use a third party program – another way to get a source for your keyword or key phrase search is via the utilisation of a third party program. There are many tools online that can help you analyse keywords and their relevance to search engines one such example is the SEO elite tool program.

5.    Other websites through the search results – this is probably one of the processes that you can use towards the end of your keyword or key phrase search, this is due to the fact that it is a requirement for you to have a list of possible keywords or key phrases that you could test using the popular search engines and to literally scout your competition in order for you to analyse the best keyword or key phrase to use in your SEO campaign.

You have gone through a tedious task of making a website, you have already used several scripting languages and several photo editing techniques and after all the work then now what? It is now time to publish your website or rather your web design. Publishing your web design is not as hard as making the website itself but you have to take into consideration several steps that would ensure the success of uploading your web design over the internet. The following are the steps or general steps that should be followed and observed:

1.    Sign-up for domain and hosting – hosting has two main categories, paid and free hosting. Free hosting comes with a catch or an agreement between you and your host provider, usually this agreement entails the use of subdomain and the incorporation of ads in your website. If your website is for information purposes only and you do not expect to gain any monetary consideration for your website then free site hosting is for you. But if you want your web design to be unique in domain name and will have a host that will be free of unwanted ads and one which is customized to your need then shelling out some of your money is required, on the upside you can fully use the paid hosting and domain account to conform to your websites’ needs.

2.    Rename your homepage – for most web hosts the first page of a website is always the document that is named as index.html. Therefore consider changing your web design homepage to index.html to indicate the first page of your website.

3.    Use a FTP tool – web designs are not just a bunch of codes it is also a combination of different images. Therefore expect your website to be more than one small file. Uploading several files using the your host may take a long time because for some especially for the free accounts they only provide uploads at maximum of five files at a time. In addition, you want to upload your websites’ pages and files at on one sitting. This is where an FTP tool can greatly help you upload your files with ease, several trial and free FTP tools are available and downloading these programs is easy. When you use an FTP tool make sure that you have your host name, username and password at hand.

4.    Test your site – after uploading all your files you have to test your web design by checking the speed of displaying the web pages’ images and features. Check if your codes are working perfectly and your links are one hundred percent pointing to the right web page.

It is a known fact that search engine companies are using search engine algorithms to index or rank a particular website in their search results. This algorithm is a closely guarded secret and known only to employees of such search engine companies, but information on search engine algorithm is like a gold mine for SEO companies, SEO consultants or SEO practitioners because of the fact that this is one of the main factors that affects ones’ SEO campaign. This is the reason also why search engine companies like Google is constantly changing or updating their search engine algorithm.

Recently, some black hat techniques have been employed by several people which resulted to the manipulation of the website rankings and the target Search engine was Google. Black hat techniques are SEO methods that are being employed to manipulate the search result ranking or even page ranking. The black hat SEO techniques has targeted mostly websites from automobile companies and in one instance there were more than 1 million malicious links targeting Ford Motor Company this according to Pandalabs.

In response to these attacks, in an informal announcement Google will be changing some features in their search engine algorithm in order to minimise if not totally eradicate this kind of spam attack. Google took action because of the fact that if search results and page rankings are freely manipulated then the trust and confidence afforded by the internet users community will be lost and Google’s glory days might come to its end.

In every Search Engine Optimisation campaign always start with sound planning, one such factor that should be considered in SEO is the use of keywords. Consideration must be taken on the fact that optimisation in our SEO campaign is executed because of two underlying factors, First are the search engines, search engines are the most common tool being utilised by internet users to search or look for resources or information through the internet. Second are the internet users themselves, we have to take into consideration the fact that users makes use of search engines by entering pieces of words and not the whole statement or paragraph a fact which can be attributed to the search engine providing only one line of text box where the user can enter their search. It is because of these underlying factors that an SEO company or SEO consultant considers keyword analysis is a must when planning for an SEO campaign. This process requires SEO companies and SEO consultants to choose only selected relevant keywords or key phrases which they will optimise, for the obvious reasons that not all words or phrases have the same relevance and importance for an internet user when searching for resources using the search engines.

Knowing that keywords are vital to your SEO campaign, this question is now placed into perspective; how do we choose the right keywords for our SEO campaign? Experiences from different SEO consultants and SEO practitioners have given the lessons they learned on how to choose the right keywords some have given opposing opinions but three basic steps has been consistent and these are:

1.    First choose a keyword or key phrase that is most related to your website or company line of business. This step requires SEO practitioners to choose for a keyword that mainly relates to the company website theme. It does not require too much brainstorming especially if you have a good idea on what your website is and what your company is. This simple step may even be efficiently augmented by the use of Wordtracker.

2.    From your original keyword and make a list of related keywords. From your list of keywords choose and analyse it further by subjecting it to a Wordtracker tool, which will in turn give you a detailed list of the most effective keywords related to your main or original keyword or key phrase which you have initially chosen for your SEO campaign.

3.    From your list of related keywords search and analyse some more keywords. This means that you have to come up with a list of related keywords from your first list of keywords, this way you are widening your keyword scope and when combined with the first two sets of keywords that you have generated will result to covering all possibilities of keywords that is actually just related from your first or main keyword.
Following these steps will help define the scope of your SEO campaign, as it will determine your focus keywords. Further, following these steps will broaden your SEO campaign using only several keywords and key phrases. Call for further information on our internet marketing services.

Web design or the utilisation of websites to promote a company and the products and or the services it offers is made possible and effective only by taking into consideration the human factor, and that is, internet users will use or frequent web pages that have informative content and most of all those with exceptional web design. This means that users will navigate more a website that is appealing to the eyes and not those websites that not only confuses them but also repels the users by incorporating web design properties that are not aesthetically pleasing to ones’ eyes, moreover a web user will not frequent a site that has several issues or errors with regards to the loading of the web page like undisplayed images and slow loading of the web page due to the incompatibility of the image file format with that of the web browser and the image having a large file size respectively.

Unfortunately for the first issue solving the problem regarding the aesthetics of the website lies within the hands of the web designer, professional web designers of course are taking concepts into consideration but with the proliferation in the knowledge on web design, independent web designers are the persons who mostly commit this type of errors or mistakes. This only means that since we do not control individuals on how they would like their website to be designed committing this type of error will continue. Fortunately however the second issue regarding file formats can be solved by knowing which type of image file format should one use in designing a website, and this can be remedied by first knowing the different image file formats that is being accepted for web design use. These image file formats are:

1.    GIF – known as the Graphics Interchange Format or GIF it is one of web designs’ earliest ally in the use of images.   This file format supports only 256 colors which makes this file format work best with images having solid colors and not on photo images which requires colors more than 256. This however has the ability to display simple animation created using GIF animator programs.

2.    JPEG – also known as the Joint Photographic Experts Group, this type of file format supports millions of colors and has the ability to compress an image to yield a lower file size but of course with the consequence of displaying an image with some missing data or rather image with not so defined characteristics. This file format is being used by web designers who would like to incorporate photos or images with complex data or with large number of colors without having a large file size.

3.    PNG – the Portable Network Graphics or PNG file format was specifically designed for web design use. This file format has a lossless quality which means that an images’ file size can be compressed using this file format and such image will also not lose any data or image quality unlike to that of the JPG file format. Using this type of image compression will not only increase the loading speed of your website but it will also increase the displaying of the details on an image. The only drawback is the fact that PNG is a new file format which is not supported by early web browsers such as IE version 4 and below.

One basic part of your web design is the content or texts within the web pages. For one to be able to make a web page that is balanced and amiable to the eyes of the user choosing the right font is imperative. Choosing the font might prove to be one of the most tedious task that will be encountered by a web designer, before one can actually choose which font will be used for a specific site theme it is also important for web designers to know the different font types so that a sound judgment on choosing the font type to be used will be made. Most specially so that when the web designer utilises the Cascading Style Sheets in his or her web design the proper font types will be combined properly using the font family property in CSS. These font families or font types are:

1.    Serif Fonts – these fonts are those having additional brush strokes at the edge of a letter, the most common serif font is the Times New Roman, although there are also other types of serif fonts and they are classified as modern, old-style and transitional serif fonts. Modern Serif Fonts are those that are having distinctions on thin and thick strokes an example of which is the Rockwell font type. An old-style serif font are those having rounded brush strokes at the edges and a smooth transition among thin and thick strokes a very common example of this is the Garamond font type. The transitional serif fonts are those having its terminal stroke connected to the serif which is known as a bracket, an example of this type of font is the Baskerville font type.

2.    Sans Serif Font – from the name itself we can deduce that this font family type is missing the serifs, in other words the additional brush strokes were removed. This type of font has a more professional look to it and legibility-wise it is better than the other font families. The most common font type for this font family is the Arial font.

3.    Handwritten Fonts – To add more design to your web page design the handwritten fonts may be used, these are fonts that, of course as the name implies, exhibits the handwritten nature of the fonts. Cursive is the most common appearance of this font family and might sometimes pose some danger especially when using it as the default font for all your web pages’ content due to its nature of being cursive, the danger of such texts might be too straining to the eyes for one to read is a possibility. Though not recommended to be used the handwritten type is most applicable and best incorporated in header text if you would like to divert from your normal boring text in your web design. The most common font type for this font family is the Lucida Handwriting and the monotype corsiva fonts.

These are the most commonly used font types in web design, although within the font family lies a myriad of font types categorising the types of font that you will be using for your web design will cut down your job into half and it will help you to quickly identify which font will be best used in your web pages.

Search engine optimisation has several factors that an SEO consultant, practitioner and even a SEO company must focus their attention to. Aside from the five basic SEO must-know factors, like content, keywords, page titles, headings and keyword density, other aspects should also be given importance. These aspects would include, use of the alt attribute, use of the bold and italic tags, meta tags, internal linking and external linking. Having all these recently mentioned factors to work with the factors on keywords, contents, headings and the like would give your SEO campaign the basic complete package for you to be able to start the SEO process on the right path. For us to be able to integrate these factors however, we should have a fair knowledge on what the additional factors are individually.

1.    The ALT attribute – ALT is an attribute for HTML more particularly used within the IMG tag. To explain further, in web design you can make use of pictures or images to liven-up your web pages, or to reinforce your text information with some images. Remember that Search engines will always look for the keywords to be present in your web pages, but what if such page is gallery of pictures only? How will you make the robots gather data from such web page? This is where your ALT attribute is very useful because of the fact that by using the ALT attribute you are allowing text to be added to the web page through the images because the main function of the ALT attribute is to give images an alternative text in case such image will not be loaded or even the loading of the image. SEO’s takes advantage of this situation by making the ALT text value of every image to contain at least one or two of the keywords being used in their SEO campaign.

2.    Use Meta tags – although some SEO companies and even individual SEO practitioners would consider using meta tags to be a waste of time, it’s still imperative to use it in your SEO campaign. Meta tags will contain the keywords of your page content, but in order to make it recognisable by search engines the most important keywords are those that should only be included. In addition, repetition of the keywords within the meta tag will result also in keyword stuffing so you should also be careful. If there are more dangers in using the meta tag than benefits can we just eliminate the use of it? If you are aiming for a ranking only in Google then elimination of such tag is an option but if you plan to also rank well in other search engines then the use of such tag will benefit your SEO campaign. In addition, the use of the description attribute in the meta tag is very important as it will also be used by search engines when your website is displayed in the search results.

3.    Use bold and italic tags – the function of the bold and italic tags are the same as when you are using the heading tags and that is to tell search engines that such tagged word or phrase is very important among the different texts. Of course the only difference is that heading tags can only give emphasis on importance to words or phrases that are apart from the main paragraph. While bold and italics gives importance or emphasises importance to words or phrases within a paragraph.

4.    Internal Linking – Internal linking is the process of linking all your web pages within your website. In order to make this type of linking beneficial to your SEO campaign you should make use of keywords and or your different page title in your web pages when making the link. This way you are maximising the use of the keywords without overdoing it of course.

5.    External Linking – this is the process of linking with other websites not your own but contains the same or similar information just like your website content. This can be made possible in your search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign by adding the additional resources web page where you can place the different links related to your web pages’ topic. However you should only choose to link to websites which are directly related to your website content and not just any other website to avoid being tagged by search engines as a link farm which will cause penalty to your website.
